Glycerin
Description
Glycerin is a simple polyol (sugar alcohol) compound. It is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. Glycerin serves in food and beverages as a humectant, solvent, and sweetener, and may help preserve foods. Glycerin also is used in medical and pharmaceutical and personal care preparations, mainly as a means of improving smoothness, providing lubrication and as a humectant.
